Linda Day has worked full time as a potter, cartoonist and illustrator for more than 25 years. From her first ceramics class at the University of Minnesota in the 1970s she was "hooked on clay" and over the years her claywork has evolved from the earthy tones of high-fired stoneware to the lively colors in her work today.

The clay used is white earthenware, which is either thrown on a "kick" or non-motorized wheel or rolled into slabs, cut and assembled to form the vases, clocks, and other items.

The formed clay pieces are then bisque-fired. Underglazes, which are nontoxic and come in hundreds of colors, are used to paint and draw the characters upon the bisqued  pieces. It takes three coats of underglaze to achieve the desired color intensity, and that is followed by final detailing and pattern-work with a small brush and black underglaze. Three coats of a non-toxic clear glaze are then brushed on, and the pieces are fired again. 

No harmful toxins or minerals are present in any of the materials used.  All of Linda's work is fully functional, useable in a microwave, and permanently entertaining.
